Gustav Meyrink - The Golem.
Este o carte pe care am luat-o de la Praga, in versiunea engleza, si... depaseste asteptarile. Fiecare nuvela - eseu are cate o reproducere dupa gravurile lui Hugo Steiner-Prag si cartea se incheie cu o scrisoare a acestuia catre autor. Iata un fragment:
"The noisy metropolis of today (Prague) has little place for the baroque, sinister romanticism or yore. It has intelligently conserved the beauties of the past, insofar as they contribute to its own standing and profitable tourism, but has made the city more ore less a museum of "sights" which have long since lost the vital connection with the peculiar life which once linked them. Only here and there, hidden away, does an ancient nook, an old alley haunt the present like a ghost."
Foarte interesant... exact asa am simtit si eu, vizitand Praga.
Nuvelele sunt la persoana I si nici pe departe "turistice", dimpotriva... Dintr-o data Praga nu mai e o colectie de "sights", ci de "insights"... ale autorului.
P.S. Mi-aduc aminte ca asa am citit prima oara si "Sissi", luata in excursia la Viena, si "Magicianul" de John Fowles, cand eram pe o insula in Grecia... E o metoda buna de a citi asa, se fac mai multe conexiuni cu realul si se invata mai multe... de la viata, in general.
