Windows 8 store billing problem
I cannot purchase anything from the Windows 8 store because it says I have provided no billing permission to my Windows Live ID.
I log in to my Microsoft Live account, go to the Billing tab and it says:
This Windows Live ID does not currently have a billing relationship with Microsoft. MSN offers a variety of services that you may subscribe to. For more information, go to
http://get.msn.comI go to the above URL and it wants me to sign up for 59.99 GBP per year, for what?
How do I enter billing information to be able to order Apps from the App store for Windows 8?
Answer:
First log on to xbox.com
Create an account with xbox.com linked to your Microsoft Live ID, strange but true!!
Do not enter billing details, log out of your xbox.com account.
Now, your PC's location needs to be changed to correspond to your billing location to be able to input billing details.
So, from the charm bar on the Windows 8 start page, , select "search" type "Location" in the search box at the top and ensure that "Settings" is selected as the search location (click the entry just below "Apps".
From the list of icons displayed, click on the "Change Location" icon.
Change your location to the country corresponding to your billing address.
Now click on the "Store" icon which is the third icon on the top row of the Windows 8 start screen.
Once the store page opens, go to the charm bar again, and click "settings", the gear wheel at the bottom. A list of application specific settings will be displayed at the top.
Click "Your account"
Now enter payment and billing info. Note that you cannot change the country, it will assume the country is the same as the one you set under "Change Location" above.
In the "city" field you may have to enter the "town" of your billing address if there is no major city near you.
